Interview with Hannah Ashton (UK)

Published:15 April,2021

She was the one of first people to not only trust our technology in the United Kingdom, but also to believe in us. Hannah Ashton, veterinary physiotherapist, started as someone that wanted to “just try” our VET905 and became one of our most important KOL and promoter in that market (and even in others).

So, we had to have our first international interview with her! We had a nice chat about her personal experiences and carreer, to her results from INDIBA, it’s always delightful to hear her stories. Read all hear!

How did you learn about INDIBA?

I had actually met Ian Hopkins (UK&Ireland Country Manager) at a conference several years ago but then a friend working with INDIBA introduced me.

For which indications/cases do you find INDIBA most useful?

Tendons, osteoarthritis, back issues (sacroiliac joint, muscular issues, post surgical) really hard to narrow it down!

You work with a lot of elite horse trainers who are usually very sceptical about technology and new treatments. How did you manage the introduction of INDIBA with them?

I am lucky that all my clients are very open to new technologies so they were very happy to see how it works.  All have been delighted with the results whether that is racehorses, dressage horses, hunters, eventers or showjumpers

What are the main benefits you see with your clients after using INDIBA?

Scan results post tendon treatments have been beyond expectations of vets, especially in cases where the horse has had a guarded prognosis.

I do a lot of work in racing and in cases where tendon / ligament injuries have been successfully rehabilitated, a maintenance session pre race seems to prevent any post race heat or inflammation.

Client feedback is hugely positive, with comments such as ‘they have never felt so good’, ‘I feel I can push my training forward now’, ‘they have never felt so supple’, ‘His hind limb engagement feels so powerful’.   Riders have found the improvement almost instantaneously and it has lasted.

Your favourite moment related to working with horses/humans/animals of your career to date?

Therapists often get cases passed to them when all other veterinary avenues have been explored and for one reason or another they haven’t been successful. So we have a challenge on our hands.  It’s hard to limited this to one moment but it is so rewarding and motivating when you get a call to say their horse has just done the best dressage test to date after your treatment or I watch one of the racehorses I look after and whether or not they win. To see them jump and run well is what I love the most.

I recently took on a horse who had severely damaged both his hind suspensory ligaments.  Shockwave and laser treatment hadn’t worked so we brought in INDIBA to see if we could at least get him comfortable and paddock sound.  Having being told the horse wouldn’t be ridden again the owner bought another horse.  She now has 2 horses to ride!  Everyone including me was shocked with how the ligaments healed with INDIBA despite the injury being relatively old when I started.

Hannah’s knowledge, experience and professional dedication is an inspiration to us. Thank you Hannah for sharing it with us!
